Upgrading from 11i to R12.1.3

 Hi,
I understand that there are licensed products, not licensed, and shared products. Is it correct, that licensed products may be installed or uninstalled?

Would it be right that in the process of upgrade only Installed Products can be upgraded which includes shared products as well and leave the rest of applications untouched (that is not apply any upgrade or pre install patches for those)?

Please advise.
