Create Receipt and Apply to Open Transaction

Greetings!  We are currently using APIs to create cash and miscellanous receipts that are then manually applied to transactions/invoices.  We are planning to begin a new process of bringing in a file to create receipts but also automatically applying them to open transactions at the same time.  I have printed out a list of available APIs for receipts, but I'm not sure which one is best suited to perform this new task.  I was thinking Ar_receipt_api_pub.Create_and_applyorAr_receipt_api_pub.Create_apply_on_accbut I'm not sure which is correct, if either.  Thanks in advance!!Jessica
