Applying archived redo logs across architectures (11gR2)
We are porting our production database from 32-bit physical to a 64-bit virtual environment. (both using Redhat Linux, Oracle EE 11gR2)
I am investigating possible methods of rollback. We expect to (potentially) be prepared to use an export/import using transportable tablespaces to do the rollback. We have used that method in the past.
Does anyone know of a way to apply 64-bit archived redo logs against a 32-bit database? We could freeze the source database and apply the logs to revert to 32-bit. That would save us a lot of time and trouble.
Thanks for your consideration,
Tim Smith
