Switching from Period End to Receipt Accruals

We have had a request to change our accruals method on oracle from Period End to Receipt.  I know the setup in purchasing options is easy to change.

What I need to know is:

(1)  Is it possible to change from one to another.

(2)  If we switch on receipt accruals now will it only pick up receipts that occur after the switchover or can we pick up uninvoiced receipts from past periods. 

(3)   If it is possible to pick up receipts from before the switch which oracle job would do this.
