Web Applet with embedded report not working in IE

Hi all,
We are using a few web applets in our CRM environment where we have embedded reports. In the html applet we use an iFrame with the url to the report and reference to for example the contact id. We have had these applets for a few years and they are working fine.
Now we are testing release 23 and we find that in Internet Explorer (we are on v 8) these applets no longer work and just display blank space. In other browsers (chrome, firefox) they do work. 
Unfortunately Oracle does not support these applets so we do not get support on this.
