Intermittent Invalid Costing with WIP Completion Returns

We are an Average Costing organization.  During our manufacturing process we perform hundreds of WIP Completion Transactions each year.  Occasionally, we encounter a situation where the cost goes way out of line with the associated Assembly Completion.  For instance, we have an Assembly Competion ofor 100 of an item with a cost of 9.50 giving extended cost of 950.00.  A subsequent WIP Completion Return (within minutes) of the same quantitty gives a cost of 25.00 for ext3ended coast of 2500.00.

As you can see this creates a serious variance that is essentially incorrect.  To date, I have not been able to identify any cost changes in the time ranges of these transactions.
