Cluster database (RAC) configuration with rman recovery catalog

Hello everyone.
I have a 2-node RAC.

I have only registered the instance located in node1. This is the instance were I was taking the backups using the controlfile instead of the recovery catalog.

I am wondering what else should I do with this RAC in order to configure it propertly  Should I also register the instance located in node2 or should I only register this instance if I am planing to take backups from this instance?
