Suggestions/recommendations for handling PO numbers greater than 20 charcaters

Greetings,

I am looking for suggestions/recommendations for handling PO numbers greater than 20 characters.  We are beginning to see PO numbers in the size range of 22 to 27 characters.  Segment1 is sized to 20 characters and segments 2 through 5 are not used by Oracle.     Any suggestions or recommendations will be most welcome.
