ASM Recovery

We have a 10TB data warehouse where we firequently refresh QA from PROD. We do this by presenting a copy of the PROD LUNs to the QA server. The PROD db is then started on the QA host and renamed. Due to the size of the database, both DP and RMAN take more time than our SLA permits.

We are considering migrating this DB to ASM, and need to determine if we can do similar refreshes if both PROD and QA use ASM. If so, what are the high level steps?
