Setting Up a Financial Budget

I am trying to set up a financial budget for the first time.  I uploaded the annual budget as a budget ledger journal entry into our practice company, PY.  I did not change the GL date to the first month of the fiscal period, so it is entered into period 10!  Questions: 1) Can I spread monthly budgets using budget patterns from a journalized budget? (I tried and got a UBE message) 2) Must I  change the GL date back to period 1 to enter the annual budget at this point?  3) Are Budget Growth Patterns only used when Forecasting
