Can we have same trailfile directory for extract and replicat on remote site ?

Can we have same trailfile directory for extract and replicat processes on remote site ?That is :
Exttrail                ./dirdat/cp
Rmttrail                ./dirdat/cp  

I dont think there is any wrong in it ?
But is it a best practice to have same directory or different directory  for extract and remote trail file ?
I think, if you have same directory then we can easily identify each file .
Please tell the best practice for having trailfile directory on extract and replicat site ?
