what Installed base impact when changine th item serial control

Hi

Have an item with "Track in Installed Base" flag checked. The item was No control serial number and also have Installed base instances with no serial numbers.

If I change the item serial control from "No control" to "At receipt", what will be the impact on the existing instances in Installed base ?

I will able to update those instances after this change ?

When I received to RMA I can receipt it to inventory ?

I be able to split instances in installed base?
