Shutting down standby database

In attmpt to shutdown a standby database I get an error:

ORA-16175: cannot shut down database when media recovery is active

I did some research and in order to cancel media recovery, one can execute:

ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE CANCEL;

Are there any issues with this solution.

P.S. The databases are being shutdown for server maintenance
