Product Revenue error

Some of our users (all belonging to a single role) have access to opportunities but they do not see the Opportunity Product Revenue object nor are they supposed to have access to it.

However when they try to save an Opportunity, the system throws this error for them
"Operation Failed: Read. Record Type: Revenue. Access Level: No Access (SBL-DAT-00553)"

Even the "Save and Add Product" option is deselected on the Company Profile

this issue is not faced with the Admin.

If the users are supposed to use Oppty. but not Revenue, do we still need to give them access to the object in the role and Access profile?
