Database upgrade and Apex

I upgraded APEX to 4.2.2 in a database running Oracle 11.2.0.2. I upgraded the database to 11.2.0.3 and noticed the$ORACLE_HOME/apex directory has Apex 3.2 software. Could I rename $ORACLE_HOME/apex and unzip apex 4.2.2 software there? Apex is valid in the database after the upgrade and it is working fine.
