1x700gb SAN disk carved up using Format vs. 7x100gb SAN disk

Hi all,

I would like to establish how the number pf paths to a disk, fits in to the speed.

What I mean is this:

If I have the need for 7 100GB disk on mountpoind /h1 to /h7, which of the two will give me better through-put? 1x700gb SAN disk with 6 paths, or 7x100gb SAN disk with 6 paths each(42)?

Between the SAN and the M4000 server there is fibre, it is very fast.

Then between the fibre and the OS there are 6 paths, if I have 1 large SAN disk and 42 paths if I have 7 smaller disk.

What I remember is that the more paths the OS have to the disk, the faster it can push the data on the number of "chanels" available.

Howdy, Stranger!
