Insufficient Privilage error to create db

Hi,
We have installed oracle database software 11203 on new linux system with below id. But now when we try to connect to SQL to create database manually it givies insufficient privilege error.  Please let us know whats causing this issue.

uid=501(oracle) gid=501(oinstall) groups=501(oinstall),502(dba),503(oper)

Does oinstall as a primary group to oracle user will able to connect sql?

We have created oracle user as per the oracle document but unable to connect sql (idel instance) to create db.
