Smartview Crashes Excel under heavy use

I have a very active user that has trouble with Smartview crashing Excel on a daily basis.  It usually happens if he has several connections open, or has a long time interval between retrievals (more than an hour).  It also happens (Sometimes) when trying to "cascade" a very large spreadsheet.  It sometimes happens when he has many spreadsheets in a workbook that also contain links to other workbooks.

Spreadsheet Logging has been enabled.  Below is the most common error message type.

[2013-08-05T17:09:47][SVC][ERROR:1][SVC10000][SVC][ecid: e5f0fa82-3be6-4486-954f-af1ed6fb2c2d,0]Registry write operation failed (System.NullReferenceException): Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
