listener log editing and rollback of patch

hi,

I have two queirs in my mind.Could some help me to clarify?

question 1:how we need to edit the listener log and for what purpose? (sorry if this is not valid question but still I am asking please clarify).

question 2:when we rollback the any rdbms database patch which applied on oracle home binaries,what is the internal operation will happen.Please let me know.
