Notification setup in R12.1

Dears,
I have one newbee question.  I'm trying to configure another notification (Oracle Cost System Alerts for Cost Worker Failure [ID 472490.1]), but we have one notification for Application Bills of Material. Can I change current notification setting  or only one way to delete and create new? And how can I test present notification if error does not appear?
