How to find what caused the huge redo generation

Hello Team,
We are using Oracle 11g (11.2.0.3) database with Oracle applications. Once of the DBAs identified that there was huge log switches are happening over the database from last year (i.e. 2012) December month. 
Is there anyway to find out what was caused this?
Is there is anyway to know what is causing this huge log switches?

Kindly let me know a solution.
