How to prevent item allocation?

Hi,

We are on 11.5.10.2 and require that only consumable items from all the items under the EAM WO should not get allocated. We tried unchecking the Reservable flag in item master of the consumable item and placing the consumable items under a 'non-reservable' subinventory, but find that consumable items still get allocated with the other items. Wondering why the system ignores Reservable flags of Item Master & Subinventory when creating soft reservations in Inventory. Can anyone suggest a workaround to achieve this?
