Locking Statictis on HFM DB Schema

Hi, We are having an issue with the stats on our HFM schema going bad, I have a few questions I hope someone can give insight to,

1 - Is it possible that if a user stops a consolidation process and starts a new consolidation before the first process abort, can this contribute to the Stats go bad on The schema?

2 - If we lock stats are you aware of any impact to database and HFM application.
