Wanting to know what IND stood for in column and table names

I have a general question that has been bugging me. I see tablew names (PA_IND_RATE_SCHEDULES) and column names that contain IND. I am wanting to figure out what IND is short for. Does it stand for Indexed or am I completely off base and it means something different.
