invalid LOCAL_LISTENER introduced when upgrading ASM from 11.2.0.2 to 11.2.0.3

System is ASM  11.2.0.2.0 on Oracle Linux 5.6, all 64-bit

Standalone GI, no cluster.

This is my initial trial of upgrading the GI from 11.2.0.2.0 to 11.2.0.3

From runInstaller, selected 'skip software updates' and 'upgrade Oracle GI or Oracle ASM'

Install procedure runs with no reported errors, but at the end, the ASM instance was not restarted.  Investigation into the alert log showed three restart attempts ending in

USER (ospid: 11402): terminating the instance due to error 119

Instance terminated by USER, pid = 11402

An attempted manual startup resulted in

SQL> startupORA-00119: invalid specification for system parameter LOCAL_LISTENERORA-00132: syntax error or unresolved network name 'LISTENER_+ASM'
