Mass end date element for employees

We have employee's that have elements that we are no longer using.  Can I run a mass update to remove these elements from all these employees?  I date tracked to 7/31 and I tried to end date the link, but it errors stating, APP-PAY-07134: you cannot delete lines which have entered within deletion period.  This is a recurring element.  What do I need to do to remove from all employees.  Need to do ASAP.
