Scheduler workbench

In the scheduler workbench, if I try to reduce the resource duration when an instance was already assigned to that operation's resource, it is not allowing. If I unassign the instance, then I can modify the resource duration. Is this standard? Do we need to unassign instances when we need to reduce the resource duration? I don't find way to unassign from scheduler too. That's another challenge.
