Replacing aging SPARC RAC cluster nodes
We have a couple of 2-node RAC clusters on aging SPARC 64-bit servers with Solaris 10 U9.
We need to replace this hardware with new SPARC T4 servers, prefarably with no downtime. I would also like to get to the latest release of Solaris (U11) at the same time if possible.
Versions are DB 11g R1 with Grid 10.2, using ASM to manage storage.
In searching the archives I have seen a wide variety of methods proposed for similar circumstances. My inclination is to add both the new servers to the cluster, creating a 4-node cluster, then remove the old servers. This seems like the least amount of risk with no downtime.
