Lists - On Or Before Today

Hi All
I would appreciate your help with lists in CRM On Demand.

How do I create a list that shows me all the records with a date On Or Before Today?

How do I create a list that displays all records with a date older than 12 months?  At the moment I have to use a specific date and amend the list every month end.
