11.1.2.2 EPMA member formulas length

Would anyone know what is the max number of characters allowed in EPMA's member formula of 11.1.2.2? A client currently in 11.1.1.3 has member formulas up to 17,000 chars and had to build a after process in order to update their outline. I have been doing some research and so far have not been able to find anything concrete on this regard. Not even on the documentation.
