Account Owner Read-Only Access to Related Opportunities

Dear Community,
Does anyone know of a way, using only Access Profiles, to configure access in such a way that grants Account Owners read-only access to opportunities they do not own, under the accounts they own?

The business-scenario is, when account-managers inherit accounts with historical opportunities, they would like the ability to see the opportunities, though we do not want them to have edit-access, nor do we want them to automatically be added to the opportunity-team (i.e., the "Inherit Team Membership" feature is not an option)...
