BIP DESKTOP- Oracle BI Add-In for Microsoft Office

HiIHAC asking me if the BIP version 11.117.0.79 supports True excel ?
I think 11.117 is 11.1.1.7 and the "79" is the BI APPs version.. is this true?  I think this is the version of BIPUBLISHER DESKTOP
I have seen the note: Overview of Available Patches for Oracle XML Publisher embedded in the Oracle E-Business Suite (Doc ID 1138602.1)
and it seems there were some issues using the excel templates and customer has several issues:

- They cannot make complex calculations for Ex: Subtotals.

- They cannot build cross-tab reports.

is this feature included in 11g ?
