Can an AR Invoice of an inactive Customer be imported ?

Hi All, 

Can an AR Invoice of an inactive Customer be imported ? We have a business process where a customer is made inactive and we get AR Invoices from a external application interfaced to Oracle Receivables. We expected these Invoices not to be imported when we run Auto Invoice as the Customer Account is made inactive. However the Invoices are imported successfully.  Is this standard functionality?
