PAY: What does the Pay Advice Date on the Quickpay form actually do?

I am not sure the Pay Advice Date does anything.    The Date Paid seems to control the actual Payment Date on the check.  
I realize we can change the date in an XML Check Print in R12 but does this field actually do anything?
