Behaviour od expense accrual journal

Every month we generate an expense accrual. This journal is set up to reverse into the first day of the next period. The journal does reverse into the next period BUT the reversed journal is in a status of reversible. If I wanted to I could reverse the reversed journal into another period.
Is this standard behaviour?
