Questions on Oracle Dataguard

Hi Dear Oracle,

I administrated Oracle dataguard from Oracle 9i to 11.2 on Windows.

I tested failover and switchover, they all worked. However I have had no chances to use it.

The database downtime up to 2 hrs  in one month would be ok for my clients. 

Now, my servers will move to virtual/SAN system and I was asked if the data guard still needs?

Please advise. I would like to hear your comments and suggestions.
