index monitoring

hello all
i'm trying to use the 'monitoring usage' feature in order to get adviced about non-used indexes
i've executed alter index someschema.index01 monitoring usage with sys user but in v$object_usage there is no records at all.

can someone help me why this is not working ??

it could be that i'm executing the command with sys ??
