How is a Fast Formula called?

  Hi,

I have a requirement which requires Fast Formula modification.

I have read a lot about FastFormula but have a query.

Can anyone please explain how and when a FastFormula is called? For example, if there is a FastFormula for validating the National Identifier field in New Hire Form, when is it called? And how does the value entered in the field get passed to the Formula?

Please help.
