Tips - Smart View option not showing in published MS file like excel in workspace

MS files like MS word or MS excel is published in Workspace. If it is opened through workspace it does not show Smart View option as it shows when Excel or Word is opened separately.

This is expected behaviour.

The issue is only seen  IE. In IE, Excel gets launched as Automation and Smart View does not work in Automation mode. The issue has nothing to do with Smart View and it seems to have everything to do with how Microsoft defaults to loading Excel when launched from the browser.  When launched in this mode for security reason Microsoft locks down Office preventing add-ins from loading.
