Regarding Category Accounting

Hi,
We defined the Product line accounting and then we defined the values for Category accounting. Could any one please elaborate me the usage of this function.

Actual my requirement was to distinguish the Material Account through category (Ex: RM, FG, SF, CG, ....)

Is there any possibility to achieve my requirement either through Category Accounting or if any...???
