Outage when running ORACLE_RESTART_HOME/root.sh

Folks,
I appreciate your help on this case

I need to install Oracle Restart on the Production server where 10.2.0.4 ASM is already operational
I'm installing Oracle Restart in a separate home with single owner oracle for both RDBMS and Oracle Restart.
As part of the Oracle Restart installation procedure, it asks us to run root.sh

Does running root.sh  incur outage for the existing ASM and consequently the production?
