Replacing 500Gb disks with 1TB disks in x4540?

Hi,
MOS Doc ID 1508960.1, describes that it is allowed to use 1Tb disks as replacement for 500GB disks in z4540 systems. All the disks in the x4540 are 500GB disks, including the hotspare.
What will happen if we replace a 500GB disk with a 1TB disk and this 1 TB disk fails. Will the 500GB spare kick in?

Or do we need to replace the hotspares also for 1TB disks?
