ZFS snapshots have files in them that are newer than the Snapshot themselves

I had a customer ask to recover a file from one of out ZFS datasets, so I went into the .zfs/snapshots directory of the dataset to view it.  On a snapshot that was created 7 days ago, I found a file that had a timestamp of September 13th -- how is that possible? Thanks in advance for your help.
