multi - instance sourcing question

We are transitioning our source instance from 11i to R12 over the course of the next year for 26 different inventory orgs.   With distributed planning we collect sourcing rules to VCP but now we want to source demand from 11i to R12.  Obviously this cannot be collected from either source but would be entered into source assignment directly in VCP.   What is the best way to collect sourcing as we do today and still protect the additional entries needed for cross instance sourcing?
