Ability to open multiple responsibilities at one time in R12

The ability to open forms from multiple responsibilities is one of the most widely used and beneficial functions in Oracle 11i for most of our users.  It appears that this functionality has been removed from R12.  The Self Service Personal Home Page mode profile option has changed between the two versions of Oracle.  Is this the driving factor?  Is there a work around?  If I have to tell my users that the ability will be gone when we migrate to R12, I may be stoned....Thank you in advance for your input.
