Spot Rate defaults to the end of the month when creating a Recurring Journal

I am trying to define a recurring journal entry with Ledger of USD and Currency of MYR, Conversion Rate type of Spot. I leave the Effective To/From dates blank and enter in the current period (Sep-13) when prompted.

When I submit the request, it fails with the following error: R_AMAS0112: Failed to obtain a conversion rate from MYR to USD for formula: xxxxxxxxxxxxx

It seems that the Spot Rate date is defaulting to the end of the current period (in this case September 30). Since spot rates are only loaded for the day after the current day, there is no Spot Rate for September 30, and the request fails.
