BIP 11.1.1.7: Securing Folders in Catalog

For a new BIP (OBIEE) implementation, under the Shared Folder, we will have a number of custom folders based on business area in the Catalog.

The requirement is that only certain users should have access to reports under a given custom folder. This obviously calls for a group/role based security scheme so that a given folder is only visible/accessible if a user has a certain role.

So for example, if a user has the "Sales Rep" role/group, then he/she should be able to view reports in the "Sales Reports" Folder in the catalog.
