Required fields - Hide on the layout

Hello Everyone,

Is it possible to set a default field value on a system required field and somehow hide it on the layout ?  Here's what I am trying to do

Opportunity Name is a system required field. I am defaulting it to Row Id . I do not want the users to see this field on the Layout. Is there a way to do accomplish this ?
