Active Data Guard configuration best practices on Exadata Machine

Hi,

What is the best practices for Active Data Guard configuration on Exadata Machine(X2-8 & X3-8 ON 11.2.0.3)? Do I need to use scan listener for ADG or use backup network or what?

How do I deliver application failover when client is using jdbc thin client? How to setup seamless failover?
