Patch 9255311 : R12 : AP : What is the 12.1.x equivalent of Patch 9255311:R12.AP.A?

We have encountered the problem described in Note :
  Format Payment Instructions failing with "An error has occured while updating instruction
    and payment statuses and marking them as complete." (Doc ID 1276122.1)

This in turn points to Internal Bug #10193667, and in both places the recommended course
of action to avoid future occurrences of the problem is to apply Patch 9255311

However the only available version of this Patch is 9255311:R12.AP.A, and we are on Release 12.1

We did give this a try, but it fails with the following error messages;
